I’m anxious and have a very hard time focusing when I have too much caffeine. Of course this means that my mornings are normally shot in the productivity arena since I have 2 cups of coffee every morning (Mon – Friday). To calm the anxiety attacks and feelings of not being in control, I’ve noticed that walking helps. I have a gym at my job so, if I could get to work early enough for a 30 minute walk every morning I’d be more at ease. I’ve also found that taking pork and red meat out of my diet made a huge impact in my monthly mood swings and I’ve noticed that dairy results in skin irritations.
I say all of this because I KNOW what to do to have better mornings, afternoons and bedtimes but I fall off the band wagon, beat myself up and think my life sucks before I realize…It’s all a result of what I’m putting in my body.
I’m increasing the amount of walking I do, the amount of vegetables and fruit I eat and replacing at least one beverage with water everyday.

Taking stock
Even after all this time, I still struggle with this to a degree. I’m better at staying on top of my blood sugar swings and steering clear of dairy products, but I still eat way too many carbohydrates and not enough fresh fruit and vegetables.
I find myself in a difficult place. On one hand I feel that this goal isn’t specific enough. I can’t even tell whether I’ve improved my diet or not because I didn’t take stock of where I started. Which leads me to the other hand. I feel strangely embarrassed to write about this goal. I find it strange because it’s not as though I eat badly. I don’t drink soft drink by the gallon (hardly at all in fact) and am not snacking on lollies and junk food every chance I get.
I’m giving up on this for the time being. I think something more specific will help.

Actually, I eat pretty healthy considering the area I am living in and the types of food available to me. However, I became accustomed to eating a certain way when i lived in northern California and I just haven’t been able to keep up with the organic, vegetarian diet I once adhered to.
I’m not an anal retentive, if experience and life have taught me anything it’s to be grateful for what I DO have and not fret about what I do NOT have. Still, since I have lived out east and in a pretty rural area, i’ve had trouble maintaining a healthy diet. I have in fact, since i’ve lived here, put on at least twenty pounds which REALLY bums me out.
Breathe in breathe out….OK, like I said, i’m grateful for what I do have and I won’t help myself by beating myself up….so I won’t. I know I can accomplish the goals i’m setting up for myself…patience….

Well, this is the first thing I added to my list… it’s not something new, I have been doing it for a while by now. I’m a vegetarian and I’m usually very careful about what I eat. Society is making us desperate to be extremely thin, and this pressure is generally quite stronger on women. Despite being a normal sized person, it took me a long time to get here, but finally I can say that all I care about is being healthy and therefore able to do the things I enjoy the most.

My name’s Mollie. When my mom and I went food shopping a few days ago, we bought fat-free cereal with the little freeze-dried fruits in it, dried cranberries, cherries, and tropical mix, lots of fresh fruit, fat-free yogurts, and a nice spring salad mix. Oh and also, reduced fat Wheat Thins and fat-free rice cakes. I already drink skim milk. So I’m hoping this will help me out a bit.

I am getting good at this. Once you make it known that you are trying to lose weight, people stop offering you nasty treats. MY major concern is how tired I am getting recently, I suspect I am cutting down too far.
What I have found is that portion control is the most important part of this. It’s ok to eat crap, as long as it is only small amounts and not very often.
